Frequently Asked Questions

If you need CPR/AED training for a job or school program, it is best to speak with them regarding the level of training you are required to have. Each of these levels contains different information and training techniques which can be applied to different age groups.

CPR/AED Level A only provides training on adults, meaning that you will only learn how to provide CPR, AED and prevent choking for adults. If you only work with adults, CPR/AED Level A training may be a better option for you. Currently, CPR/AED Level A is only available for private training.

CPR/AED Level C will teach you all of the same skills as CPR/AED Level A, but will also include training on children and infants. With this training, you will learn three different techniques to save people of multiple ages. If you know you work with adults and children, it is better to enrol in CPR/AED Level C courses.

Prior to registering, please be sure to discuss with your employer or program coordinator. They will be able to provide you more information on the training course you require.

One of the easiest ways to become First Aid and CPR/AED certified through the Canadian Red Cross is by enrolling in an Online Blended training course. With this format, students have the opportunity to complete half of their training online in their own time, making it easy to fully digest the material they are learning.

If you are comfortable with self-teaching, the Online Blended format is a great option! Learn the theory of First Aid and CPR/AED by reading, watching videos and completing quizzes and games. You are not required to complete the online portion at any specific time, just as long as it is done before your in-class session.

During your in-class session, you will have the chance to practice the skills you have learned with our top-notch training equipment. A Canadian Red Cross instructor will teach you how to provide life-saving techniques, building confidence in your abilities to help someone in need.

There are two courses that can be recertified at our Burlington training location including: CPR/AED Level C and Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C. In order to recertify either of these courses, you are required to have a valid (not expired) Canadian Red Cross certificate. If your certificate has expired, you will need to register for a full training course again.

For those who only need to recertify CPR/AED Level C, you are welcome to register for a Recertification course over and over as long as your certificate is not expired. Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C certificates can only be recertified once. This means that you will need to register for a full course, then a Recertification course, alternating between the two.

For any other training courses such as CPR/AED Level A or Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C, you will need to register for a full training course as Recertification courses are not available in Burlington.

Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) and CPR-HCP are very similar, but not quite the same course. In April 2019, CPR-HCP was upgraded to what is now called “Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP).” This training course now runs for four hours and provides more in-depth training for healthcare professionals.

With Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) training, students will learn high-intensity topics such as high-performance CPR, BVM, opioid overdose and more. Not only will students learn various life-saving skills, they will also learn how to work in a fast-paced environment as a team.

Those who typically enrol in Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) training courses include nurses, first responders, dental professionals and more. These people play important roles in our communities, meaning it is critical for them to understand these life-saving techniques. With that in mind, students are required to renew their Basic Life Support training once a year, as certificates are only valid for one year.

All Canadian Red Cross First Aid training courses automatically include CPR/AED training. At Coast2Coast, we offer two first aid training courses. These courses include: Emergency First Aid and Standard First Aid.

Each of these courses includes CPR/AED Level C, which teaches students how to provide CPR, AED and assist with choking for people of any age.

When it comes to our First Aid courses, the content does vary. Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C will only cover wound care whereas Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C includes everything taught in Emergency First Aid as well as environmental illness, poisons, head, neck and joint injuries and more.

At the end of the day, it is important to know how to provide CPR/AED to a victim of an emergency which is why it is always included in our First Aid training courses in Burlington. Even if you are already certified in CPR/AED, it is a great reminder on how to perform CPR and it will provide you with additional confidence.

Coast2Coast understands that not everyone requires an official First Aid & CPR Certificate, but would like to gain knowledge on some aspects of our training courses. Save time and money by registering for one of our Burlington First Aid and CPR/AED Workshops! These workshops have been created to teach students a specific skillset and build confidence in their life saving skills.

Join us for one of our pre-made workshops or build your own course! By building your own course, you can choose the topics you’d like to learn and we will create a customized lesson for you and your group. Register and earn a participation certificate today!

Yes, we do offer private/group First Aid and CPR/AED training in Burlington, Ontario. Private training is a great way to certify eight or more people at once. Typically, employers and school program coordinators inquire about private/group training courses as they are required to keep their staff and students certified.

Choose a course date and location for your group training and we will do our best to provide you with one of our experienced Canadian Red Cross instructors. If we are unable to supply you with an instructor on the date you would like, we would be happy to discuss alternate dates. Our instructor will come to your location of choice with all necessary training equipment to teach your group life-saving skills.

You may choose from any of our training courses as long as you have eight or more participants. After speaking with one of our private training coordinators, you will be provided with an amazing discounted price, making group training affordable.
