Common Questions

First Aid & CPR Certification — Frequently Asked Questions

Answers based on WorkSafe Saskatchewan guidance and Red Cross policy — no guesswork.

Most Saskatchewan workplaces require Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C, covering adult, child, and infant. It is the minimum standard under Saskatchewan workplace safety law. WorkSafe Saskatchewan approved program certificates are required (online-only ones are not accepted), and we issue them within 48 hours. No prerequisites are needed.

These are two names for the same course, Saskatchewan Standard First Aid certification, renamed Intermediate First Aid in 2022. Most workplaces require this level. Certificates are valid three years and renewable within 90 days of expiry at a 75% minimum grade. No prerequisites.

Coast2Coast is building a waitlist for Regina training and will share venue details when local schedules open. You can also browse active certified training options across Saskatchewan on our website.

CPR/AED Level C certification is valid for 3 years. Recertification must be done with the same certifying body, so a Lifesaving Society certificate cannot be recertified with the Red Cross, and you would take the full course instead. Standard First Aid recertification is available once, within 90 days of expiry; if it expired more than 90 days ago, the full course is required.

Yes. BLS replaced CPR-HCP in April 2019. It is the Red Cross standard for healthcare professionals and first responders, covering high-performance CPR and opioid overdose response. BLS is valid one year and is mandatory for clinical roles like nurses, paramedics, and hospital staff. No prerequisites; non-clinical workers should take Standard First Aid.

AEDs are common across Saskatchewan in offices, transit hubs, schools, and gyms, and every course includes hands-on AED trainer practice. CPR provides an important 10-second window to initiate life-saving efforts, and every minute without CPR reduces survival odds by 7 to 10%, so bystander action significantly improves survival rates. WorkSafe Saskatchewan regulations align CPR training with CSA Z1210:24 standards. A CPR pocket mask is required for participation.

WorkSafe Saskatchewan approved program certificates are issued within 48 hours of completion, often the same or next business day. You will need a minimum grade of 75% and 100% attendance. For blended courses, online access is emailed within 24 hours of registration. Contact us for group bookings of 8 or more.

Yes. Our Babysitting Course teaches Basic First Aid and child care and is designed for youth aged 11 to 15 years old, and certification is often required for babysitting jobs. Younger children can take Stay Safe! for core safety skills.
