Our online CPR/AED courses cover the same theory as an in-person class, but hands-on practice is still required to master real CPR skills. That’s why many of our CPR/AED training options use a blended approach: complete the theory online, then join a shorter in-person session where you practice on feedback manikins and AED trainers under an instructor’s direct supervision. These in-person sessions meet the CSA Z1210:24 training standard that WSIB relies on under Ontario Regulation 1101, and our CPR/AED training follows current resuscitation guidelines set by international committees, so the skills you learn stay relevant.
How Online CPR Certification Works
Not all CPR courses are the same: CPR/AED Level A covers adults only, CPR/AED Level C adds children and infants and is the version most Ontario workplaces require, and Basic Life Support (BLS) is a healthcare-provider course that’s fully in-class with no online component. Confirm which level your employer requires before you register — it’s the most common reason a certificate gets rejected. A CPR/AED certification from Coast2Coast, once issued, is valid for three years across Canada (BLS is renewed annually). Because Canadian Red Cross and provincial workplace safety boards like WSIB require a hands-on skills assessment, your certificate is issued only after you complete the in-person portion of a blended course — the online module covers the theory, not the certificate itself.

Is online first aid CPR training the same as in-person?
No. Online CPR/AED courses cover the same theory as an in-person class, but you must still complete a short in-person skills assessment before your certificate is issued.
How long does an online CPR course take?
The online portion of a blended CPR/AED Level C course takes about 2 to 3 hours. You then attend a short in-person skills session to complete your hands-on assessment and receive your certificate.
