Frequently Asked Questions

Formally, we knew that CPR-HCP was a course designed for healthcare professionals which needed to be renewed every three years. As of April 2019, CPR-HCP has been upgraded to what is now called Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP). Compared to CPR-HCP, the Basic Life Support course is a four hour training which covers high intensity topics in more depth at our Aurora facility.

Students will now be required to recertify this certificate every year as it only has a one year validity. This keeps our healthcare professionals updated on important life-saving skills, such as high-performance CPR, how to handle trauma or opioid overdose and more.

In addition to hands-on skills, students will learn how to work in a fast-paced environment such as a hospital. They will also learn how to properly work as a team which is important as a healthcare professional such as a nurse, first responder and more.

Gain confidence in your life-saving skills and complete a Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) training course in Aurora with one of our experienced Canadian Red Cross instructors.

Online Blended First Aid and CPR/AED training is a course format which is perfect for those who do not have much time to dedicate to a classroom. With our Online Blended courses, students are required to complete two sections before they receive their First Aid and CPR/AED certificate from the Canadian Red Cross. First, students must complete an online component. This component can take anywhere from two to eight hours to complete depending on the course level you have registered for. The online component will cover theory and knowledge with videos, text, quizzes and games to help students understand the material. Next, students will be required to attend an in-class session where they will practice hands-on First Aid and CPR/AED skills with a highly-skilled Canadian Red Cross instructor. These skills will include everything from performing CPR to bandaging a wound. Again, course material will vary depending on the level of training you have registered for.

Private/group First Aid and CPR/AED training is a great way to get multiple people certified all at once. This training format is ideal for employers or school program coordinators to certify their employees/students in one go.

With private training, your group of eight participants or more will become eligible for amazing benefits from Coast2Coast. Not only do you get to choose a location and date for your First Aid and CPR/AED training, you will also receive great discounts. As a “thank you” for choosing Coast2Coast for your training needs, our private training coordinator will provide you with the best price possible.

If you choose to host the training at your location, such as a workplace, school, etc, we will send one of our highly-trained Canadian Red Cross instructors to teach. They will provide all necessary training equipment, guaranteed to provide your group with the best training possible. Our goal is to teach students life-saving skills they feel confident in providing when an emergency strikes.

An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is an electronic device used to assist a victim of cardiac arrest. While performing CPR, the use of an AED may be the difference between that victim’s life or death. AEDs are so important that they have been implemented into public places throughout Aurora such as train stations, schools, office buildings and more.

At Coast2Coast, all of our First Aid and CPR courses include AED training. These courses teach students how and when to use an AED on a victim of cardiac arrest. Practice how to place AED pads, send a shock and alternate between CPR and using the AED.

If you are interested in purchasing an AED for your home or workplace, please contact our sales department (sales@c2cfirstaidaquatics.com). We provide many brands of AEDs such as Zoll and Defibtech. There are various types of AEDs available and we would be happy to help you choose what is best for you.

In order to enrol in a First Aid and CPR/AED Recertification course with Coast2Coast, you must meet certain eligibility requirements. Canadian Red Cross Recertification courses are designed to refresh the student’s mind on the life-saving skills they have previously learned. Not only will Recertification courses cover skills the student already knows, they will also teach students new techniques that have been implemented.

There are two courses that may be recertified: CPR/AED Level C and Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C. Each course has different eligibility requirements. Two requirements they do have in common is that their current certificate must be valid (not expired) and it must be from the Canadian Red Cross.

CPR/AED Level C may be recertified over and over, meaning you can complete a CPR/AED Level C Recertification course more than one time in a row. Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C, on the other hand, can only be recertified once. This means that you must alternate between a full course and a Recertification course in order to keep your certificate valid.

There are a couple different levels of CPR/AED training courses that we host at our Aurora facility. Each of these courses teach students different topics, so it is important to understand what training you may require.

CPR/AED Level A is our most basic training course. This course is ideal for those who only work with adults, such as a personal trainer, as it teaches limited skills. In CPR/AED Level A training, students will learn how to perform CPR and use an AED on an adult only, as well as assist an adult victim of choking. This course will also teach students about stroke, shock, life-threatening bleeding and more.

CPR/AED Level C is very similar to CPR/AED Level A, except it covers a few additional topics. CPR/AED Level C teaches students all of the same material in CPR/AED Level A, but also includes how to perform CPR and use an AED on a child or infant as well as how to assist a child or infant victim of choking.
