CPR/AED Level C certification is valid for 3 years. Recertification must be done with the same certifying body, so a Lifesaving Society certificate cannot be recertified with the Red Cross, and you would take the full course instead. Standard First Aid recertification is available once, within 90 days of expiry; if it expired more than 90 days ago, the full course is required. Some insurance boards, licensing bodies, and employers set their own work requirements, so always confirm what they need prior to booking.

Yes. BLS replaced CPR-HCP in April 2019. It is the Red Cross standard for healthcare professionals and first responders, covering high-performance CPR, opioid overdose response, and the latest CPR guidelines. BLS is valid one year and is mandatory for clinical roles like nurses, paramedics, and hospital staff. It is designed for learners who want more knowledge and hands-on practice, while non-clinical workers should take Standard First Aid.
