Every instructor who teaches your class is Canadian Red Cross certified for the course they deliver. Instructors are assigned by class date and location.

    Instructor Certification: Frequently Asked Questions

    How can I become a Canadian Red Cross certified instructor with Coast2Coast First Aid & Aquatics?
    Start with our Instructor Development Program. You first need a current Canadian Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification, then complete the instructor course, where you learn how to teach and assess our programs. Once you are certified, you can teach with Coast2Coast as a Training Partner. See our instructor course page for dates and requirements.
    How long does it take to become a First Aid instructor in Canada?
    Most candidates complete the instructor course over a few days, after already holding a current First Aid and CPR certification. The exact schedule depends on the program and your prior experience. Check our instructor course page for the current format and hours.
    What are the prerequisites to become a First Aid and CPR instructor?
    You must be at least 18 years old and hold a current Canadian Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification, for example Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C. Clear communication and confidence leading a group help you succeed as an instructor.
    What does the Coast2Coast Instructor Development Program cover?
    It trains you to deliver and evaluate Canadian Red Cross First Aid and CPR courses, covering adult learning principles, running hands-on skill sessions, candidate assessment, and classroom management. On completion you are certified to teach the programs you qualified in.
    Can I start teaching right after I complete the instructor course?
    Yes. Once you finish the Instructor Development Program and are certified, you can begin teaching the programs you qualified in, with Coast2Coast or another authorized Training Partner. Many of our instructors teach across Ontario and Alberta.
    Do you offer instructor recertification and transfer training?
    Yes. If your instructor certification is expiring, our instructor recertification keeps you current. If you are already certified with another training partner, our instructor transfer training lets you teach with Coast2Coast. Contact us or see the instructor course page for details.
