Course Information
Prices, formats, course levels, and how to pay.
Where can I find the different course prices and dates?
Our course schedule and prices vary by location. Check our course locations page to choose a training facility near you, then pick the course type you want to register for. You will then choose a course level from a dropdown, with the price shown next to each level. After you select a level and continue, you will see every available date for that training at that location.
What is the difference between online and in-class training?
All of our First Aid and CPR/AED courses are offered in two formats. Traditional All In-Class is held entirely in class with a Canadian Red Cross instructor, where you learn the theory and practise hands-on skills. Online Blended splits the course into an online part and an in-class part. The online session covers the theory and knowledge with quizzes and activities, and must be finished before your in-class date. You then attend the in-class portion to practise hands-on skills with a Canadian Red Cross instructor.
Are CPR and HCP the same?
Not quite, although they share some elements. CPR/AED courses are open to the general public and are not high-intensity: they teach you to give CPR to adults, children, and infants depending on the level you choose, which suits most workplaces and general knowledge. HCP, now called Basic Life Support, is built for healthcare professionals. This four-hour course covers high-performance CPR, trauma, opioid overdose response, and more for fast-paced settings such as hospitals, and the certificate is valid one year. For a deeper breakdown, see our BLS certification questions guide.
Do I have to register for a CPR/AED and First Aid course to get two certificates?
No. You do not need two separate courses. Two of our courses include both CPR/AED and First Aid training in one: Basic/Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Level C and Intermediate/Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C. After completing either one, you receive a single certificate confirming both First Aid and CPR/AED, valid for three years.
How do I pay for my course?
We accept several payment methods when you register with Coast2Coast: Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard, and E-Transfer. If none of these work for you, please contact our office and we will arrange for special circumstances.

Accessing online training, e-books, and certificates.
How do I access my online training?
After registering for an Online Blended or Online Only First Aid & CPR course, you will receive an email within 24 hours from the Canadian Red Cross. If it does not arrive, contact us by phone or email. Once you receive it, you will set up your account on MyRedCross, where you can access your training. If you have trouble completing your profile or starting the online session, see our how-to video guide.
When do I complete the online portion of my blended training course?
If you registered for an Online Blended course, you must complete the online portion before your in-class date (the date you registered for). If you do not finish it in time, you may be asked to reschedule. If you have trouble accessing the online portion, please contact our office by phone or email.
How do I view my e-book?
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to the e-book. You can download it to a computer, phone, or tablet and refer back to it any time. If you registered for an Online Blended course, the e-book is also available in your MyRedCross account.
When will I receive my certificate?
After completing your course, you receive a temporary certificate valid for 30 days. Official Canadian Red Cross certificates are processed and emailed 5 to 10 business days after course completion. If yours has not arrived within 10 business days, please contact our office by phone or email.
Where is my certificate accepted?
All Coast2Coast courses, including CPR/AED, First Aid, Marine Basic First Aid, Basic Life Support, Professional Responder programs, and Youth programs, follow Canadian Red Cross guidelines. On successful completion you receive a Canadian Red Cross certificate valid for three years (Basic Life Support is one year; Youth programs never expire). All courses are accepted in the province of Ontario. For requirements in Alberta and other provinces and territories, check your workplace or government rules.
General Course Policies
Recertification, online-only courses, and renewal rules.
My First Aid & CPR certificate has expired. Can I recertify?
If your certificate has already expired, you are not eligible for a Recertification course and must enrol in a full training course. You can register in either format to receive an official Canadian Red Cross WSIB approved certificate: Traditional All In-Class, or Online Blended (half online, half in class, so you spend less time in the classroom). For more on timing and renewals, see our full first aid, CPR and BLS questions guide.
Are there any First Aid and CPR courses that can be done fully online?
Coast2Coast offers an All-Online First Aid and CPR course. On completion you receive a Canadian Red Cross certificate that temporarily meets the regulatory requirement. To receive an official WSIB approved Canadian Red Cross certificate, you must upgrade your All-Online training by attending an in-class session within 90 days of finishing the online course.
My certificate is valid for three years, but my employer says I need to re-certify every year. Is this true?
Most Canadian Red Cross First Aid and CPR certificates are valid for three years, with Basic Life Support the exception at one year. Some occupations carry specific requirements, so your employer may ask you to renew once a year. Our Ontario and Alberta question guides explain how workplace rules can differ.
Registration & Cancellation Policies
Discounts, cancellations, refunds, and rescheduling.
I registered with a friend for the "Bring a Friend" deal, but they dropped the course and I will attend alone. Can I still get the discount?
No. The discount becomes invalid. Our registration system records who is registered together for the discount, so if the attached participant cancels, the system removes the discount and the original participant pays the standard course fee.
I registered for a course but need to cancel. Am I eligible for a refund?
Cancellation policies vary by course type.
First Aid & CPR and Basic Life Support courses: cancel or reschedule more than 48 hours before your course and a $35 plus HST fee applies. Within 48 hours, no refund is available.
Professional Responder courses: cancel or reschedule more than one week before your course and a $150 plus HST fee applies. Within one week, no refund is available.
Private and Group Training courses: contact your private training coordinator to learn the applicable cancellation policy.
For special circumstances, please contact our office by phone or email and a customer service representative will assist you.
