First Aid Course & Recertification Course Questions
A recertification course is shorter than the full first aid course. Your instructor reviews recent updates, and participants refresh skills on modern training equipment. Book before your certificate expires; a lapsed certificate means taking the full course again. Recertification keeps your first aid certification active for 3 more years.
Yes. Blended learning includes online theory followed by hands-on practical sessions, so class time is spent on hands-on teaching, not lectures. The online training covers first aid knowledge at your own pace, and your instructor then builds the emergency response skills and confidence to respond effectively in real life situations.

Who is this for? Nurses, nursing students, paramedics, physiotherapists, and healthcare workers in Oshawa who need a current Basic Life Support course card for clinical roles.

Basic Life Support Questions
No. BLS replaced CPR HCP (2019) and is mandatory for clinical roles. If employers ask for "CPR C", standard classes suffice. If they need BLS, book Basic Life Support. Healthcare workers in Oshawa often complete both programs.
BLS certification is valid for one year, so healthcare professionals renew annually to stay current in resuscitation emergencies. Renewal with an instructor requires a valid, non-expired card; once it lapses, the full course is required. Register before expiry — clinical employers ask for proof of an active card.

Common Questions

Emergency First Aid, CPR Training Courses & Basic Life Support: FAQs

Based on Ontario WSIB rules and Red Cross policy.

Yes. Every first aid training course, CPR course, and BLS session at 245 Simcoe St S is WSIB approved (Ontario OHSA Regulation 1101). Many employers require WSIB approved certification for first aid training, and every course is taught by certified instructors with real skills testing, so your certificate is accepted at every Oshawa workplace. Group training meets the same federal and provincial occupational health and safety legislation.

Most workplaces require Intermediate First Aid (formerly Standard First Aid) with CPR Level C: a 2-day course. Basic First Aid (Emergency First Aid) is a 1-day training course for lower-risk sites and security guards. Both are the perfect blend of online training and in-class skills practice with an instructor, so you feel confident in emergency situations. First aid certification is valid 3 years, and every workplace safety policy names a designated first aider who needs a current card for workplace emergencies.

Our instructors run WSIB approved CPR courses at our Oshawa facility: CPR/AED alone, or with Basic First Aid or Intermediate First Aid. CPR Level C suits general public and workplace training programs for cardiac emergencies, covers adult, child, and infant CPR plus AED use, and certification is valid three years. A recertification course is shorter than the full Basic First Aid course, and the Canadian Red Cross endorses recertification courses — book with an instructor before your card expires.

Basic Life Support replaced CPR HCP in April 2019. The BLS training course helps equip healthcare professionals with the skills for handling cardiovascular emergencies, including high-performance CPR, airway management, and safety. BLS training is offered by the Canadian Red Cross, and BLS certification is valid one year, so a renewal course with an instructor is needed annually to stay current for clinical emergencies and skills checks.

Your instructor submits results the same day, and your Canadian Red Cross course certificate arrives within 48 hours of the course, with a temporary certificate on course day. First aid certification is valid 3 years; Basic Life Support one year. Blended first aid and CPR courses pair online theory with in-class skills for emergencies. Youth training programs, including the Babysitting course, follow the same 48-hour turnaround.

Coast2Coast maintains a 99.9% pass rate across all Oshawa training courses. Recognition of medical emergencies and effective CPR are essential skills every student practises with a certified instructor in class, and that teaching keeps the rate high across our first aid programs. Anyone who does not pass on the first attempt gets a free 90-day skill retake at no extra cost, and leaves class with the workplace first aid skills to save lives in emergencies — a great experience either way.
