Every Online Blended course pairs the same Canadian Red Cross material we teach in the classroom with a self-paced online portion. Complete the online portion of the training first, then attend one in-class skills day to finish. Pick the course your employer names.
The online portion alone is knowledge, not a certificate. Attend your in-class skills day within six weeks of finishing the online portion to receive the WSIB-approved certificate.

Regulation 1101 requires a first aid certificate, and CPR on its own does not satisfy it
A standalone CPR/AED certificate — Level A or Level C, online, blended or fully in person — does not meet Ontario’s Regulation 1101 at any level. CPR is still required for workplace compliance: it sits inside the first aid certificates rather than replacing them. Book Basic/Emergency or Intermediate/Standard First Aid & CPR/AED to satisfy the regulation.

Enrol and your online portion opens within 24 hours. Finish it at your own pace, then book your in-class skills day within six weeks.
Ask your employer which level they require before you pay. Moving from Basic/Emergency up to Intermediate/Standard later means starting the online hours again.
Four Steps
How Does Online Blended Learning Work?
You enrol, you study online, then one classroom day turns it into your certificate.
Start Step 1Register for the course level your employer names. Your online portion opens within 24 hours, under a Canadian Red Cross Blended Learning Instructor.
Work through the modules all at once or a little at a time, on any device. The online portion carries the theory; the classroom day is where you practise it.
Every minute in the classroom is hands-on, with a Canadian Red Cross instructor. You practise compressions, choking relief and AED use on an AED Trainer, then complete the skills evaluation.
Book it within six weeks of finishing the online portion. This is the step that turns the online portion into the certificate WSIB accepts.
Pass the skills evaluation and your digital Canadian Red Cross certificate is issued within 48 hours. It runs three years, it is the certificate WSIB, Alberta Occupational Health & Safety and Nova Scotia WCB recognize, and a free 90-day skills practice retake comes with it.

Employer Checklist: Regulation 1101 Beyond the Blended Training
Booking the course is one line on the list. Ontario employers also owe a first aid station, a posted notice board, quarterly box inspections and a record of every treatment given. The employer pays for the equipment and the services.

Post Form 82 at the station
The WSIB poster known as Form 82 goes on the notice board, beside the valid certificates of the trained workers on duty and the signed inspection card.

Stock the first aid box
Contents scale with the workers on a shift. A kit meeting CSA Z1220, First Aid Kits for the Workplace is an accepted alternative to those lists — it replaces the contents only.

Inspect every box quarterly
Check each box at intervals of no more than three months, then sign and date the inspection card.

Put a certified worker in charge
Someone holding a valid first aid certificate works in the immediate vicinity of each station. The completed Blended pathway — the online portion plus the in-class skills day — produces the certificate WSIB accepts.

What is the difference between Intermediate/Standard and Basic/Emergency First Aid?
Intermediate/Standard First Aid is the course most workplaces require; Basic/Emergency First Aid suits lower-risk settings with five or fewer workers per shift. In Ontario, Regulation 1101 sets the line at five workers. Both are offered as Online Blended courses with CPR/AED Level A or Level C.
How quickly will I receive my certificate?

Is Online Blended training WSIB approved?

How long do I have to attend the in-class skills day?

Is Online Blended the same as taking a course fully online?
No — Online Blended adds a required in-class skills day; an all-online course has no skills test and does not produce a WSIB-approved certificate on its own. If you only want the online portion for now, our fully online course is a separate option. If you would rather skip the online portion entirely, ask about our fully in-person, full classroom sessions.
Which Online Blended course should I take?
Most workplaces require Intermediate/Standard First Aid & CPR/AED, because Ontario’s Regulation 1101 applies to shifts of more than five workers. Smaller shifts often qualify for Basic/Emergency First Aid. If your role only names CPR, our standalone CPR/AED course covers Level A and Level C, though CPR alone does not satisfy Regulation 1101.
