- A current Canadian Red Cross First Aid Program Instructor certification
- Proof of at least three Canadian Red Cross First Aid courses taught during the three-year certification period
- One of those courses taught to the highest level of certification in the discipline being recertified — for the First Aid & CPR discipline, at least one Standard First Aid, Standard Child Care First Aid or Marine Basic First Aid course
- Courses taught in combination (for example, Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C) do not count as two separate courses
- Teaching ability assessed

- Evaluating participants against established Red Cross standards
- Including every participant in the course
The classroom component also refreshes Fundamentals of Instruction, so you’re current on teaching technique as well as program content. Recertifying more than one discipline — First Aid & CPR and Professional Responder, for instance — means enrolling in a separate course for each. Call it CPR Instructor Recertification, BLS Instructor Recertification, First Responder Instructor Recertification or EMR Instructor Recertification — First Aid & CPR and the three Professional Responder disciplines each recertify on their own 6- or 7-hour day, never combined into one session.
