First Responder Recertification (FR) Training Program
A First Responder certificate runs three years. Recertification renews it before that date passes — two days instead of four, the same knowledge test, the same skills demonstration and the same two assessed scenarios, taught by a Canadian Red Cross instructor.

First Responder Recertification Courses
Recertification keeps a Canadian Red Cross First Responder certificate current — the same syllabus and the same standard, in half the days of the first course. If your certificate has already lapsed, book the full four-day program instead.
Your FR certificate must still be valid. Once it expires, the two-day renewal route closes and you retake the full four-day course.

FR Recertification Questions, Answered
Does a First Responder certificate meet WSIB Regulation 1101?
No — Regulation 1101 asks for a first aid certification, so book Intermediate/Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C for workplace compliance. We are a WSIB-approved training provider, but First Responder and its recertification are professional credentials rather than the workplace certificate the regulation names. Is there an online or blended option for recertification?
No — First Responder recertification is fully in class, with no online or blended route. The scenarios, lifting and extrication skills it assesses cannot be tested through a screen.
