What Does Pet First Aid Training Offer?

One day of practical training for cats and dogs, built on the same ideas as human first aid.

You practise on dog and cat dummies, not just from slides. Topics include choking skills, artificial respiration and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The course puts a strong emphasis on preventing illness and injury, along with recognising the signs of common problems.

The course covers choking, artificial respiration, CPR, poisoning, frostbite, hypothermia, heat stroke and burns, with a strong emphasis on prevention.

Is Intermediate First Aid the same as Standard First Aid?

Yes, Intermediate First Aid and Standard First Aid are two names for one course. The Canadian Red Cross changed the wording, so older certificates read Standard and newer ones read Intermediate. The majority of workplaces require Intermediate first aid certification. Our first aid courses page covers the workplace levels for people.
