No. BLS replaced CPR HCP in April 2019 and is mandatory for clinical roles. If an employer asks only for “CPR C”, the standard Level C course is enough and certification is valid for 3 years. BLS covers high-performance CPR, cardiovascular emergencies, and opioid overdose response, and is valid for one year.

Certificates are issued within 48 hours of course completion, and a temporary certificate valid for WSIB purposes is issued on the training day. Level C certification is valid for 3 years and BLS for one year. Successful training results in a certificate recognized for workplace requirements in Ontario.

Recertification for Level C is valid for 3 years and can be repeated. Intermediate First Aid can be recertified once, and only within 90 days of expiry. If certification expired over 90 days ago, the full course is required. Recert requires a minimum grade of 75% on evaluations and keeps your technique current and effective.
