First Aid Instructor Courses in Mississauga

Did you know that you have the ability to provide your community with skills that could potentially save a life? Coast2Coast provides Canadian Red Cross First Aid and CPR instructor training program in Mississauga, which is designed to teach aspiring instructors the skills and knowledge required to teach various safety training courses. Our instructor development program is designed to provide comprehensive guidance on teaching and facilitation of techniques required for individual and group tasks, teaching practice, injury prevention principles, inclusion, and progressive learning.

After meeting the prerequisites, the candidate can begin the Fundamentals of Instruction component. This component consists of two parts: an online theoretical and an in-class portion. Candidates must pass both portions to complete the component. After they finish this requirement, they may move on to the next stage: The Discipline-Specific classroom component. This second component requires 2 more days of in-class training. Candidates will be given the chance to refine their teaching abilities by leading peer teaching sessions, which is the final step in receiving their Instructor Certificate.

After you’ve completed the course, you’ll get an e-certificate that has a validity period of 3 years. Certified instructors can teach all of the following courses: Basic First Aid, Marine Basic First Aid, Emergency Child Care First Aid, Standard Child Care First Aid, and CPR. Now is the time to get started!

Prerequisites

  • Must be 18 years of age or above

  • Must hold a valid Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C certification

  • Successfully complete a skills evaluation

If you’re looking to provide skills training to current and aspiring medical professionals, consider our Professional Responder Instructor Development course. This Canadian Red Cross-approved course focuses on teaching methods that are required to teach specialized courses for first responders (FR), emergency medical responders (EMR), and advanced first aid in Mississauga.

This intensive course includes teaching through real-life scenarios, holding educational sessions in various settings, and offering unique experiences during the course. The course material is designed to be flexible, based on the teaching talents of the instructors, allowing for a more dynamic and enjoyable learning atmosphere.

Once candidates have met the prerequisites for the course, they can start the Fundamentals of Instruction component. Within this component, the candidate must complete an 8-hour online session before attending the classroom portion, during which they must apply the concepts under the guidance of an Instructor Trainer. Candidates who successfully complete the first component may advance to the 2-day discipline-specific classroom component, which prepares them to teach Professional Responder courses. Candidates must then complete the in-class Teaching Experience component, which entails teaching in a dynamic classroom setting after which their certificates will be processed.

The validity period for certifications is three years. The candidate’s fulfillment of the pathway components and courses that they want to teach will be examined, as per their requirements. This training allows candidates to teach Basic Life Support (BLS), First Responder or Emergency Medical Responder. Reserve a spot with us right now!

Do you want to work in the education sector but don’t know where to start? The First Aid Instructor Transfer course in Mississauga not only provides you with a Canadian Red Cross certification, but also enables candidates to become instructors of various Red Cross safety courses, including CPR, Emergency First Aid, Standard First Aid, Child Care First Aid and Marine Basic First Aid.

With previous expertise, you may qualify for the Instructor Development Program in one of two categories:

  1. If you are an instructor with another ministry-approved First Aid organization
  2. If you are certified as the Canadian Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or as an educator (elementary or secondary level)

Depending on which category the candidate falls into, their training will take one of these paths: For those who fall into the first category, they’d simply apply what they’ve learnt in prior First Aid training from recognized organizations to the Red Cross’s First Aid curriculum. Before becoming an instructor, they will need to check prerequisites, complete a skills evaluation, as well as complete the Fundamentals of Instruction component. Once this is complete, they may skip the Discipline Specific Component since they already have an understanding of First Aid & CPR. Following that, they will complete the in-class Teaching Experience.

However, the candidates who fit into category 2 will have a slightly different learning experience. The candidate must successfully pass a skills evaluation to begin this course. Since candidates have previous experience as educators or Red Cross-approved Water Safety Instructors, they are not required to participate in the Fundamentals of instruction. They may skip to the Discipline-Specific component, then complete a Teaching Experience component, afterwards, in order to practice peer teaching sessions.

If a participant completes the training and passes all of the evaluations, they will be awarded a certificate which is valid for three years. Enroll for our course now!

Get ahead of the game and renew your certification before it expires! The Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor Recertification Course in Mississauga is tailored to current Red Cross instructors who wish to renew their instructor certificates and complete the Instructor Recertification Hub. Candidates are able to continue teaching core Red Cross First Aid and CPR courses such as Emergency and Standard First Aid, CPR/AED, Marine Basic First Aid, and Emergency and Standard Child Care First Aid through this program.

This course focuses on teaching, supervision, and assessment. The Recertification training program is designed for instructors to help them strengthen their teaching practice. It also covers separate and group activities, learning skills, injury-prevention methods, inclusion, and developing one’s talents.

Candidates interested in taking our Instructor Recertification course must first complete the HUB component. The HUB is 4 hours long and can be done online or in-person. Instructors must retake the HUB training every 3 years. The HUB is an online assessment that covers general and technical skills.

After completing the HUB, the applicant may proceed to the Discipline-Specific component. You can complete this 4-hour training course virtually or in person as well, and there are three disciplines from which you can choose to recertify. You must recertify each discipline separately. Disciplines include:

  • First Aid & CPR (4 hours)
  • Professional Responder (4 hours)
  • Wilderness (4 hours)

In order to renew your certification as an instructor, you must hold a current Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor Certification, which includes teaching experience in 3 Canadian Red Cross First Aid Programs during the validity period of the certificate.

Did first aid, cpr aed standard c, with Selina and she was great. Kept everyone engaged, shared her life experiences and went very interactive vs sit and watch a slide show. Her energy really made the course memorable and enjoyable
Response from the owner:Thank you, Sam! πŸŽ‰ We agree, Selina is wonderful at keeping the class engaged with her real-life experiences instead of just showing slides. She always makes our Standard First Aid training in Mississauga so interactive and memorable. We'd love to help your friends and family get certified too! – The Coast2Coast Team
