BLS Certification and Recertification

The Basic Life Support Course offered in Guelph is approved by the Canadian Red Cross. You will receive a WSIB-approved certificate that qualifies you for healthcare positions upon completion.

At present, we do not offer BLS Recertification training as part of our Canadian Red Cross courses. However, existing certificate holders can renew their certificates by registering for our BLS training course at a discounted rate.

If you are renewing your certificate, select the course level “Renew Your Basic Life Support (HCP)” from the dropdown menu when registering for training. Please remember to bring your current BLS certificate to class as proof of completion. Canadian Red Cross BLS certification and recertification are valid for one year.

If you fail the Basic Life Support course, you will be given a second chance to pass both the hands-on skills portion and the multiple-choice questions in the test. Your instructor will review the areas you did not understand before retesting you.

If you fail a second time, you must retake and pass the full course. You can easily reschedule a second course by contacting our office. Several ways to prepare for the course include taking notes, paying attention, reading through the online course eBook, and asking questions.

Some individuals who struggle with the BLS course opt to take the Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C training course in Guelph, which provides a comprehensive understanding of CPR and first aid basics.
