COVID-19 First Aid & CPR Training Protocol

coast2coast covid-19 terms and conditions

All students must complete the Screening Questionnaire (see below) 24 hours before their course. If the answer to any of these questions asked in the questionnaire is YES, please contact us for a one-time free rescheduling.

The Canadian Red Cross societies have also asked all training partners to screen pre-existing conditions such as allergies causing sneezing and reschedule the training if the participant has sneezing/flu-like symptoms. This extra due diligence is requested from partners to ensure all participants feel safe and secure during the course. If this applies to you, consult our office and we will work with you to find the most suitable option.

During Training:

It is recommended that students wear a face mask and a face shield during their training due to group activities that must be performed in the class. Face masks and face shields are not mandatory but recommended. Although, if you are experiencing any symptoms, we request that you do wear a face mask.

What We Do To Keep You Safe:

In an effort to combat COVID-19, Coast2Coast First Aid and Aquatics Inc. has implemented the following procedures:

  1. Students may receive an individually sealed student kit (Triangular bandage, gloves, conforming bandage, gauze pad, adhesive tape)*
  2. Students will receive a one-time-use filter to practice rescue breaths
  3. Implemented use of strong disinfectant solutions to clean surfaces and equipment before and after each training
  4. Increased availability of disinfectant wipes to clean manikins, training equipment, and surfaces during the training
  5. Increased availability of hand sanitizers in class to allow participants for quick hand cleaning

Handwashing:

Handwashing is highly recommended to prevent the spread of viruses and pathogens and you may be asked to wash your hands several times during the training. We recommend proper handwashing during the following instances:

  1. Beginning and end of the class
  2. Before and after meals/snacks

Food and Snack:

Students are allowed to eat and drink in class during breaks. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, please continue wash/sanitize hands prior to handling food and physical distance from classmates.

Textbooks:

During the class, we will not be distributing loaner textbooks in order to prevent cross-transmission of the diseases between students. You may download the PDF version of the book from your confirmation message and use your tablet/laptop/smartphone during the class OR you may purchase a hard copy version. Please understand that these are the only two options feasible at this time; once the situation with COVID-19 is resolved, we may return to our original practice of using loaner textbooks during the class.

Participants should use their own learning equipment each day including, manuals, worksheets, calculators, notebooks, pens, pencils, etc. These items should not be shared with other participants.

After Training:

We recommend that you wash your hands upon leaving our facility. When you get home, we recommend that you change and wash your attire as well before getting in contact with your family members.

COVID-19 Screening Questionnaire

Coast2Coast First Aid and Aquatics Inc strive to ensure the safety of all participants and staff in the classroom during this unprecedented time. All students must complete the Screening Questions. Students are highly recommended to wear a face mask for the full duration of their training, but it is not mandatory. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed below, we ask that you do wear a face mask.

Today I completed the practical portion of my First Aid training with instructor Scott Faichnie, and I want to express my sincere gratitude and admiration for him as a teacher. This wasn’t my first First Aid course, but it’s the first time I’ve walked away feeling this confident in my skills. Scott explained everything so clearly, breaking each topic down in a way that was easy to understand and remember. He also managed to make eight hours of training genuinely engaging and enjoyable instead of something to simply get through. Thank you for creating such a positive learning environment and for giving me the confidence to actually use these skills if I ever need to.

John is an excellent instructor who taught with patience and practicality to maximize the learning of Standard First Aid & CPR/AED Level C. Incorporating his personal stories and usage of videos along with his expertise helped me to gain a better understanding of the reasoning behind the skills he was teaching and in turn feel better prepared to act with confidence should the need arise. I appreciated the blended form of the course that allowed completion of the certification in just one in-person day.
