First Aid Course, BLS & CPR Certification Training in Ajax

Majority of workplaces require Intermediate first aid certification. Our 13 to 14 hour Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C meets that standard in Ontario. Lower-risk roles may only need the one-day Basic/Emergency First Aid course. Both are WSIB approved, and online-only certificates are not accepted. View Ajax course dates.

Two names for the same course. The Canadian Red Cross renamed Standard First Aid to Intermediate First Aid in 2022, and employers accept both terms. CPR/AED Level C is valid for three years. Recertification must be completed with the same certifying body, so a Lifesaving Society certificate cannot be recertified with the Canadian Red Cross — you would take the full course instead. Intermediate/Standard First Aid recertification is available once, within 90 days of expiry; after that, the full course is required.

Yes. Basic Life Support replaced CPR-HCP in April 2019. It is the Canadian Red Cross standard for healthcare professionals and first responders, covering high-quality CPR and opioid overdose response. BLS runs as a 4-hour in-class session, is valid one year, and is mandatory for clinical roles such as nurses and paramedics. Non-clinical workers should take Intermediate/Standard First Aid. Students complete a self-paced online portion of the training before attending classroom sessions. The online portion takes about eight hours, then a certified instructor guides your in-class skills day at our facility. Online access is emailed within 24 hours of registration. If you would rather learn everything directly from an instructor without video or computer requirements, ask about our fully in person course dates.
