No. Alberta OHS approved certification requires an in-person skills test, so a fully online course cannot give you a valid workplace certificate. Coast2Coast uses a blended format: theory online at home, then a hands-on skills session in class. Beware cheap online-only certificates, they do not meet OHS Code Part 11 and are not accepted by employers, Alberta Health Services, or SAIT clinical programs.

You must recertify with the body that issued your certificate, and under Alberta OHS regulations an expired certificate, even by one day, means retaking the full course, with no grace period. Bring your valid original Canadian Red Cross certificate to verify eligibility, and book at least 3 weeks before it expires.

Yes. Both are required under Alberta OHS regulations. Security guards need at minimum Basic/Emergency First Aid with CPR/AED Level C, and many Calgary employers ask for Intermediate/Standard First Aid. For construction, Part 11 of the Alberta OHS Code and its Schedule 2 hazard rules set the number of certified first aiders, training level, and kit required by worker count and hazard class, Calgary sites are almost always high hazard.
