If you’re looking to teach skills to aspiring medical professionals, consider our Professional Responder Instructor development course. This Canadian Red Cross-approved course is designed with an emphasis on teaching techniques that are necessary to instruct specialized courses for First Responders (FR), Emergency Medical Responders (EMR), and advanced first aid in Vaughan. These include providing real-life scenarios, conducting instructive sessions in multiple settings, and organizing unique classes.

The subject matter is intended to cater to a wide variety of instructors, allowing for a diversified learning environment depending on teaching skills. Furthermore, it only requires a short amount of training for instructors to be able to teach other First Aid courses.

Are you interested in expanding your career as well as helping save lives?

Our First Aid Instructor Transfer course, offered in Vaughan, is a certification from the Canadian Red Cross that will allow students to teach other individuals Red Cross safety courses, such as CPR, Emergency First Aid, Intermediate/Standard First Aid, Child Care First Aid, and Marine Basic First Aid.

With prior expertise, there are two categories in which candidates may apply for the Instructor Development Transfer Program:

  1. If they’re a First Aid instructor with another ministry-approved training organization
  2. If they are a Canadian Red Cross Water Safety Instructor/Instructor Trainer or an educator at the elementary or secondary level

Depending on the category in which the candidate falls, their training will take one of these paths:

  1. Those who fall into the first category may apply what they’ve learnt in prior First Aid training from other recognized institutions to the Red Cross’s First Aid program. Before they can start teaching, potential instructors will need to check prerequisites and have their skills evaluated. They will then need to complete a Fundamentals of Instruction component. When candidates complete the preceding processes, they can skip the Discipline-Specific Component as they already know what skills and knowledge are required for First Aid and CPR. The next step for obtaining their certificate will be a brief, in-class teaching experience.
  2. The candidates who fall into category 2, on the other hand, will complete the prerequisites and skills evaluation and then skip the Fundamentals of instruction as they have previous education experience. Then, candidates will learn how to implement Red Cross delivery methods in a Discipline-Specific classroom for about 14.5 hours. Once they complete the Discipline-Specific component, the participants will then engage in a teaching experience to practice leading peer teaching sessions.

After completing the training, participants will be issued a certificate that is valid for three years. Register today to reserve your spot.

We had a fantastic CPR and First Aid training experience with Scott! He explained everything clearly, made the class interactive, and kept everyone engaged with a fun and approachable teaching style. He created a comfortable learning environment where questions were encouraged, and the hands-on practice really helped build our confidence. We left the course with a clear understanding of the material and felt much more prepared to respond in an emergency. We highly recommend Scott to anyone looking for an informative, enjoyable, and well-delivered CPR and First Aid course! Martha & Nadia 🙂

Today I completed the practical portion of my First Aid training with instructor Scott Faichnie, and I want to express my sincere gratitude and admiration for him as a teacher. This wasn’t my first First Aid course, but it’s the first time I’ve walked away feeling this confident in my skills. Scott explained everything so clearly, breaking each topic down in a way that was easy to understand and remember. He also managed to make eight hours of training genuinely engaging and enjoyable instead of something to simply get through. Thank you for creating such a positive learning environment and for giving me the confidence to actually use these skills if I ever need to.

The course was not only very detailed and organized, the instructor was really wonderful. Scott made sure that everyone was clear on all the information, he made the information and the day very easy to follow and assimilate all the information and really took great care of each individual. He was entirely present and engaging. As a class we were fortunate to have him as an instructor for our in class portion. It is a significant and very essential skill to learn and how it is learned is the foundation that people take with them and us important when having to use these practical skills. That cannot be neglected. I really appreciate all the care and detail he put into this course.
