Working At Heights Safety Training

Coast2Coast First Aid & Aquatics offers Working at Heights training courses in Ontario for private training in association with one of our training partners!

Working at Heights is an approved Chief Prevention Office course of the Ontario Ministry of Labour. This training teaches students skills and knowledge needed for working at heights in a safe manner. The goal of this training course is to reduce and prevent the number of injuries, incidents and fatalities caused by falling while working in construction.

Who Needs Working at Heights Training?

Working at Heights training is made for people who work on Construction Projects who may be exposed to fall hazards. You must also enroll if you use any of the following:

  • Safety nets
  • Work belts/safety belts
  • Travel restraint systems
  • Fall restricting system
  • Fall arrest systems

How Long does Working at Heights Training Take?

The Working at Heights training is an eight (8) hour training which is offered in the Online Blended format. This means that the participant will complete half of their training online prior to attending an in-class session. The online portion will take roughly 3.5 hours whereas the in-class portion will last 4.5 hours. Online training must be completed prior to attending the in-class session. Participants must receive a 75% or higher on their Certification Test.

How Long does Working at Heights Training Last?

The certificate you earn after completing a Working at Heights training will last three (3) years. If you change jobs, this certificate is valid between employers as long as it is not expired.

How Often is Working at Heights Training Required?

Students will be required to refresh their Working at Heights certificate every three (3) years in order to keep it valid. It’s important to keep your skills fresh and up-to-date as techniques may change over time.

Employer Duties

Employers are required to make sure their workers have the correct training done by an approved training provider. This includes a valid Working at Heights training as well as proper training on fall protection equipment.

Employers are also required to keep training records of all workers. This is important because a Training and Skills Development inspector may request these documents at any time. Please be sure to keep one of the following:

  • a copy of the worker’s proof of completion document
  • a record that includes:
  • the worker’s full name
  • an approved training provider’s name
  • the name of the approved training program
  • date of successful training completion
