After successful completion, you’ll receive an e-certificate that is valid for three years. Get the privilege to train tons of people in critical and life-saving skills. Our Canadian Red Cross Professional Responder Instructor development course in Richmond Hill focuses on teaching techniques that are necessary to instruct specialized courses such as First Responder (FR), Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), and advanced first aid.

Candidates who meet the requirements for the course may begin the Fundamentals of Instruction component. During this component, an 8-hour online training must be completed before a 2-day classroom portion, where the candidate will apply the concepts under instructor guidance.

Candidates may proceed to the 2-day Discipline-Specific classroom component after they have completed the Fundamentals of Instruction, where they will be prepared to teach Professional Responder courses. This is followed by the teaching experience component, which allows candidates to instruct in a dynamic class setting before their certification can be finalized.

Certifications have a three-year validity period. Candidates’ completion of the pathway components and courses that they want to teach will be verified, in accordance with their preferences. This may range from the following: BLS Instructor, First Responder Instructor, and Emergency Medical Responder Instructor. Book your Instructor training today!

Switching careers and increasing your work opportunities has never been easier! Our First Aid Instructor Transfer course is a Canadian Red Cross certification in Richmond Hill that allows students to become instructors of Red Cross safety courses such as CPR, Emergency First Aid, Standard First Aid, Child Care First Aid, and Marine Basic First Aid.

There are two ways that candidates may qualify for the Instructor Development Program with previous experience:

  • If the candidate is certified by another ministry-approved First Aid agency
  • If they work for the Canadian Red Cross Water Safety Program or as a teacher (elementary or secondary level)

Depending on the category in which the candidate falls, their training will follow one of these paths: Candidates who fall into the first category will apply what they’ve learnt in prior First Aid courses from other recognized institutions to the Red Cross First Aid curriculum. Although they will still need to check prerequisites and have their skills evaluated, once that is complete, they will need to finish a Fundamentals of Instruction component. After finishing this component, they will be able to skip the Discipline-Specific Component since they already have knowledge of First Aid & CPR. The next stage will be a one-day in-class Teaching Experience.

Candidates who fit category 2 that successfully complete a skills evaluation will be allowed to skip the Fundamentals of instruction, as it is assumed that they have experience as an educator or Red Cross-approved Water Safety Instructor.  They will start with the Discipline-Specific Classroom component, which is up to 14.5 hours long. After the candidate completes the Discipline-Specific component, they will then peer teach to gain experience in teaching sessions.

The candidates who successfully complete the training will be awarded a certificate that is valid for up to three years. Sign up now.

Why First Aid & CPR Instructors are Important

If you have taken a First Aid & CPR course in the past, then you probably know how much your instructor stressed the importance of understanding the life-saving skills you learned. Emergencies happen on a daily basis all over the world which is why it is necessary for so many people to be certified. This is why many companies require their employees to be First Aid & CPR certified regardless if they work in healthcare or even in an office.

First Aid & CPR training teaches people the skills required to save a life. Training ranges from practicing CPR to wrapping an injured arm in a sling. With the right curriculum and instructor, students can gain not only skills, but confidence in their life-saving abilities.

Instructors make a difference in their students’ lives. They can teach important safety skills, but passionate instructors also encourage their students to be passionate about learning these skills. They teach them why we use specific techniques and provide real-life experiences and knowledge to their classrooms. Your role as an instructor shapes the minds of our community. Provide your students with the confidence in saving a life whether that is a friend, co-worker or family member. Join an Instructor Development training course today!
