Do you want to share your knowledge with new or existing medical responders? Our Canadian Red Cross Professional Responders Instructor course in Newmarket strives to teach candidates the specific abilities required to instruct advanced courses such as First Responder (FR) and Emergency Medical Responder (EMR). Incorporating active participation, instruction in a variety of settings, and organizing unique sessions create a more engaging learning experience. With little training time needed, this allows instructors to teach important First Aid courses.

Candidates who meet the prerequisites and pass the evaluation for the course may begin with the Fundamentals of Instruction component. Before attending an in-class session, candidates must complete an 8-hour online course. Under the direction of an Instructor Trainer, they will demonstrate their knowledge and skills acquired from the theoretical component in the classroom component. After finishing the first stage, candidates may advance to a two-day Discipline-Specific component that prepares them to teach Professional Responder courses. Individuals may then teach in a dynamic learning environment and upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive their certificates.

Certifications need to be renewed every three years. We will check to ensure that the candidate has completed all of the courses and components they are willing to teach in order to validate their Teaching Credential. The following are some of the courses that one may teach as an instructor: BLS Instructor, First Responder Instructor, or Emergency Medical Responder Instructor. Our Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor Transfer Course in Newmarket will help you boost your job prospects by giving you the skills and information required to teach a variety of Red Cross safety courses such as CPR, Emergency First Aid, Standard First Aid, Child Care First Aid, and Marine Basic First Aid.

Candidates with prior experience may qualify for the Instructor Development Transfer course if they meet one of the following two circumstances:

  1. If the instructor is approved by another First Aid organization
  2. If the individual is either a Canadian Red Cross Water Safety Instructor/Instructor Trainer or an educator at an elementary or secondary level

Depending on which conditions the candidate meets, their training will follow one of these paths:

  1. Those who qualify for the first condition will learn how to apply what they’ve learned from other First Aid programs to the Red Cross’s program. Before becoming certified as an instructor, potential candidates will still need to pass a skills evaluation and meet course prerequisites before starting the Fundamentals of Instruction component. When candidates complete the preceding processes, they may skip the Discipline-Specific component as they already know what skills and knowledge are required for First Aid and CPR. The next step for obtaining their certificate will be a brief, in-class teaching experience.
  2. Candidates who fulfill the second requirement must successfully complete a skills evaluation and meet the necessary prerequisites. Once this step is complete, they may skip the Fundamentals of Instruction as they have previous teaching skills. They will start the Discipline-Specific component instead. This component is 14.5 hours. After participants finish the Discipline-Specific component, they’ll move on to the Teaching Experience component. Here, they’ll practice leading peer teaching sessions.

Candidates that are successful will receive a three-year valid certificate. Register now to reserve your spot!
