Pet First Aid Courses

The Pet First Aid courses by Walks N Wags was originally developed in 1993 by Nurse Ethne Dickinson of Oakland Educational Services LTD along with a team of veterinary professionals. The administration of the program has since been passed to Walks N Wags. This program is the longest standing pet first aid program in Canada and the training is applicable to both dog and cat owners, covering a wide range of first aid during emergency situations.

Recently, the pet first aid program has gone through a massive update and expanded the training with the assistance of a National team of Veterinarians and other pet health professionals. This course has received the “Stamp of Approval” from recognized and respectable magazines such as Animal Wellness, which is North America’s top animal health and wellness magazine.

Why Pet First Aid is Important

Just like humans, our pets may go through an emergency situation and require first aid assistance. As pet owners, it is important for us to keep our furry friends safe whether that means providing care when they injure their paw or simply knowing how to handle if they get stung by a bee. Understanding pet first aid could mean the difference between a temporary or permanent injury. By registering for a pet first aid training course, students will learn a variety of topics ranging from bone injuries to heat stroke. Let’s keep our pets safe. Enroll today!

What Pet First Aid Training has to Offer

What Pet First Aid Training has to Offer
Pet First Aid training courses are a great way to learn how to care for an injured animal in an emergency. This course covers very similar material to our First Aid and CPR/AED training courses for humans such as how to care for burns, heat stroke, bone injuries and more.

Courses will include practicing hands-on skills on dog and cat dummies, helping students understand how to implement the material they have learned in a real life situation. Some courses may include the use of real dogs to practice skills such as bandaging.

Typically, when an emergency occurs, we panic and do not know what to do. After completing a Pet First Aid course, you will know exactly how to handle an emergency situation and spring right into action, saving your furry friend!
